STRHA Board held a meeting May 19, 2019 after the St Jude’s Trail ride held at Uncle Tom’s Park. President Randy Fadely brought the meeting to order. Board members present were Randy Fadely, Ellie Hamman, Casey Poor, Eric Reiley, Sharon Estep, Susan St. Amand, Charlie Moore and Bobby Irwin. Ellie presented the Treasurer’s Report covering the time period since the last board meeting and it was accepted as read.
Old Business: Ellie Hamman presented a summary of the 2019 Crystal Crown meeting. We had 37 riders this year. Many riders complimented the JTR team that day saying that they think we have some of the most creative obstacles they have seen. As always, a big thank you to all who leading up to and on the day of the ride!
New Business: The State 4H will be holding a horse camp at Fort Valley Stables June 17th-20th. Anyone who would like to volunteer their time should contact Bill Shchumacher at 540-333-4101.
The Club’s summer picnic will be on July 13th at 4pm at Ted and Casey Poor’s House located at 240 Locust Lane in Edinburg. Bring your swimsuits and towels! Contact Casey for directions and to RSVP.
Our next meeting will be on Sat Sept. 28th following the evening meal at the Fort Valley Camping Weekend.
With no more new business Randy adjourned the meeting.

Ride # 561 Date: Sunday, June 30, 2019 9:30am Place: Signal Knob Short Loop Leaders: Katie and Melissa Price 540-335-3658 Description: Pack a lunch – Recommend shoes on horses. Some climbs and mountain roads. 4 hours ride. Directions: From Strasburg go to RT 55 East toward Front Royal, approximately 5 miles turn right onto Fort Valley Rd toward Elizabeth Furnace. Go 4.5 miles and go passed Elizabeth Furnace Family campground on left and start looking for next parking lot on the right.
Ride #562 Date: Sunday, July 7, 2019 9:30am Place: Bucktail to Trout Pond ride Leave from Bucktail parking lot Leader: Randy Fadely and Ellie Hamman 540-984-4332 Description: 4 1/2 hrs – short route Mountain riding, some climbs and rocks, logging road riding. Shoes recommended. Bring a lunch. Directions: From I-81 at Strasburg, take Rt 55 exit, turn on Rt 55W to WV. Go 19 miles to Wardensville. Go through Wardensville and turn left onto Trout Run Road. In 6.5 miles

Ride # 563 Date: Sunday, July 14, 2019 10:00am Place: Laurel Run Loop Leader: Ann Hamilton 540-325-3104 Description: Approx. 3 1/2 hours. Some mountain trails and gravel roads. Shoes recommended. Bring a lunch. Directions: I-81 to Exit 283 (Woodstock/Rt. 42). Take Rt. 42 West (Senedo Rd) to Columbia Furnace (about 5 ½ miles). Immediately after crossing Stony Creek, make a right onto Rt. 675, cross low bridge, immediately turn left onto State Route 675/Wolf Gap Rd. Continue on Wolf Gap Rd until it turns to the right after the dumpster area. Bear left to go on Liberty Furnace Rd. Go 2.5 miles and take a right onto Cold Spring Rd. It is gravel. After passing Rt 252 on the left start looking for a left turn into the parking area.
Ride # 564 Date: Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 9:30am Place: Parking Lot #88 Leader: Katie and Melissa Price 540-335-3658 Description: Bring lunch. 4.5 hr ride. Shoes Recommended. Mostly forest road and just a little mountain trail and then down to #92 Forestry Road back to FR 88 Parking lot. Directions: I-81 to Exit 283 (Woodstock/Rt. 42). Take Rt. 42 W (Senedo Rd) to Columbia Furnace (about 5 ½ miles). Immediately after crossing Stony Creek Bridge, make a right onto Rt. 675, cross low bridge, immediately turn left onto Rt 675/ Wolf Gap Rd, Take the 1st right in about ½ mile onto Johnstown Rd/State Rt 608, Continue on Johnstown Rd., about 2.4 miles, you will travel into the GWNF and road turns into FR-88. DO NOT Turn left onto FR-92, but continue on what is now FR-88, Look for parking lot on right about .2 miles after FR- 92.
Ride # 565 Date: Sunday, August 18,2019 9:30 Place: Uncle Toms Leader: Randy Fadely and Ellie Hamman Description: 4 hr ride, bring a lunch. Shoes recommended. Directions: I-81 to Exit 283 (Woodstock/Rt. 42). Take Rt. 42 West (Senedo Rd) to Columbia Furnace (about 5 ½ miles). Immediately after crossing Stony Creek, make a right onto Rt. 675, cross low bridge, immediately turn left onto State Route 675/Wolf Gap Rd. Continue on Wolf Gap Rd until it turns to the right after the dumpster area. Bear left to go on Liberty Furnace Rd. Go approximately 3 miles and turn right onto Rt.701. Uncle Toms Park is a mile or so down the road.
Ride # 566 CAMPING WEEKEND at Fort Valley Ranch Date: Friday - Sunday, Sept. 27th-29th, 2019 Marked trails for Friday and Sunday rides Bill Schumacher will lead Saturdays ride at 10:00 am. Place: Camping at Fort Valley Ranch Leader: Bill Schumacher 540-333-4101 Description: CAMPING Reduced rates for camper hookups and cabins. Primitive is free. Call Fort Valley Ranch to make reservations 540-933-6633. Use of pavilion, baths, and showers RIDES --Shoes recommended. Weekend will count as 1 ride. Bring lunch on rides. MEALS – Friday dinner bring your own hamburger to grill. Bring covered dish item. Saturday dinner bring your own steak to grill. Bring covered dish item. Sunday meals on your own.
